Welcome to the Garrison Wine Bar & Tapas Restaurant Opened in May 2001 the Garrison Wine & Tapas Bar has gained an enviable reputation for an excellent and ever changing menu and wine list. The new enlarged kitchen remains under the experienced management of Head Chef John Ollerenshaw. John and his team of 6 talented and innovative young chefs prepare all food, freshly as ordered. The kitchen is especially famed for Spanish meatballs, chicken and fish dishes. There is also a wonderful selection of vegetarian dishes, hot and cold to suit all taste. Equally, the Chefs freshly made fudge or shortbread biscuits offer a Moorish experience accompanied with freshly ground coffee.
A new staircase and recently opened upper lounge provides a sumptuous relaxing area to enjoy one of the finest beer and wine lists available on the Island. The quality and value of 14 specially picked house wines leaves nothing to chance. Equally, you can choose your personal favourite from a wine list of 56 of the best wines available, all at reasonable prices. The new lounge area has a wonderful selection of beers from all around the globe. Here again the emphasis is on above average quality and many beers carry an organic label.
Always eager to have customer feedback the Garrison conducted the Islands largest smoking survey within the hospitality industry between January and March 2004. When asked if smoking should be permitted in the restaurant area a total of 1036 customers responded with an overwhelming 96% requesting a non-smoking restaurant. The upstairs lounge is a smoking area. Customers can finish their dining experience with a coffee or liquor upstairs.
One further surprise awaits all going upstairs. A superb roof terrace is an ideal area to dine with uninterrupted views across Castletown Bay. This is another first for the Island and adds that Mediterranean touch. It’s something the Garrison is very good at. Over the past 3 years a loyal customer base has been established from those seeking an alternative venue to the average restaurant or pub. The newly opened lounge area is attracting new customers looking for a relaxed place to sit and converse without the need to shout over loud music and gaming machines. Equally, the bookings for functions ranging from business lunches to family weddings has seen an enormous increase. Such is the popularity of the Garrison that it is advisable to make a restaurant booking in advance, even for Monday nights.
The Garrison is open all week from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9.30a.m. until midnight on Friday and Saturday and is highly recommended for its Sunday lunches. Sunday opening is from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bookings recommended on 824885.
