HQ Bar & Restaurant
Away from the crowd yet still in the heart of Douglas, HQ Bar and Restaurant within the Mereside guest house is equally popular with visitors and locals. Once you come and discover it for yourself, you’ll find out why. Its unusual name stems from the fact that the rooms functioned as army headquarters during the Second World War.
The light, spacious interior bears no traces of its former military purpose but a display of old prints gives a sense of history. HQ is simply but stylishly furnished and just as suitable for a quiet night out in the week as it is for a very special occasion.
Full of character and charm, it’s not hard to see why so many people have made it their ‘HQ.’
The bar is fully licensed and well-stocked with wines, spirits, liqueurs, bottled beers and draught beers. HQ is proud to sell Bosun Bitter, a full-bodied local ale from a micro-brewery in Laxey village.
The integral restaurant has built an excellent reputation for traditional food, freshly prepared with the finest ingredients.
Seafood and seasonal fish are a speciality, as are steaks which are cut and cooked to exact customer preference. We insist on homemade chips and only the freshest of vegetables. What’s more, there are several wickedly tasty desserts to choose from if you’re feeling indulgent.
For delicious food and drink and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, HQ won’t fail to satisfy.
