Bibaloe Glen
Bibaloe Glen was named after a ford at the bottom of Whitebridge Hill. This glen adjoins Molly Quirks Glen and access is from Whitebridge Road just as you leave Onchan village heading towards Laxey.
History
In 1956 it was donated to the Forestry, Mines & Lands Board by His Honour Deemster Ramsey Gelling Johnson, Captain of the Parish of Onchan. The Deemster had purchased it in 1941 from Emily Jane Black. The Forestry Division erected a plaque on one of the pillars at Ballakilmartin to acknowledge this generous donation to the Manx people, but as this seemed to cause confusion about the entrance to the glen it had to be repositioned to its present site.
Harvey Briggs
In 2003, the Captain of the Parish of Onchan, Mr. Harvey Briggs, most generously donated eight acres of land to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Mr. Briggs, who does so much for the community of Onchan, owns Ballakilmartin Farm, which borders the glen on its Northern side. This land has now been integrated into the glen, which Harvey is so very fond of.
