Tom Mylchreest Sheard

Born in Dalby, Thomas Mylchreest Sheard Jnr became the first Manxman to win a TT race on the Isle of Man when he won the 1922 Junior 350cc race on an AJS.  He did this in 3h, 26m, 48s at an average speed of 54.75mph.

He followed this victory by winning the Senior 500cc race in 1923 on a 3.5hp Douglas in 4h, 4m, 33s at an average speed of 55.55mph in atrocious weather conditions.

To this day, he remains the first and only Manxman to win both a Junior and Senior TT race.

His winning motorcycle was in the TT display at the Manx Museum during the TT Centenary celebrations in 2007.
