Infrastructure

The Isle of Man has not, at the present time, discovered indigenous sources of coal, gas or oil and therefore depends on imports to supply its energy demands.  Despite this, the Island's industrial and domestic users are provided with thoroughly modern supplies of electricity, gas and other fuels.  Population projections show the importance of immigration to the Isle of Man.  The present structure is such that without an influx of new residents there would have been a decline in the overall population by the year 2000.

As with other aspects of its welfare provision, the Island's social security and healthcare systems are similar to that of the United Kingdom.  Reciprocity in social security arrangements with the UK has been the Isle of Man Government policy for years.
