Douglas based 4-star hotel, The Claremont, is celebrating recent successes following the conferral of two internationally recognised awards: a prestigious Certificate of Excellence with TripAdvisor and the Silver Accolade from Visit Isle of Man.
TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, offers visitors the chance to rate their hotel experience as well as provide comments and suggestions to other users. As part of a worldwide competition, the Certificate of Excellence award honours excellence in all aspects of hospitality, ranging from quality of service, décor, value, location, views and catering. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months. The accolade is only awarded to those establishments that consistently achieve outstanding visitor reviews and is extended to all qualifying businesses, placing The Claremont amongst the top 10% of participating establishments worldwide. Together with its associated sites, TripAdvisor forms the largest travel community in the world, with more than 50 million unique monthly visitors offering more than 60 million reviews and opinions.
The Isle of Man Tourism Silver Accolade is an independently adjudicated award that is conferred each year following an overnight visit by an independent assessor. The Silver Accolade is awarded only in circumstances in which the hotel consistently achieves excellent scores in all areas identified as being important by the consumer, rather than simply a high overall average. The Claremont has been identified as providing exceptional levels of service and as having outperformed its already impressive 4-star rating to become a ‘4-star silver’ hotel. On the most recent assessment customer Service element of the stay was even rated as ‘5 Star’.
Both awards are a fitting reflection of the significant investment made on behalf of The Claremont by Sleepwell Hotels, which, over the last 18 months, has spent over £2million on a series of refurbishments designed to boost the hotel to the forefront of the Island’s hospitality market. An average of £50,000 per room, compared to an industry average of £15,000, has been spent on a variety of boutique furnishings whilst The Claremont has also extended its services portfolio to accommodate bespoke, first-class corporate functions, Manx Heritage Tours, Golf tours and luxury weddings. The Claremont’s Certificate of Excellence and Silver Accolade follow a Bloomberg UK Hotel Awards ‘highly commended’ interior-design prize as well as a short-list nomination for the Caterer and Hotelkeeper Magazine design awards. Further refurbishment of the Ground Floor, Lounge and Reception areas of the Hotel are planned for later this year.
