Minister grateful to retain post

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney says he's grateful to have been allowed to continue in post, after his offer to resign was turned down.

Yesterday Mr Cretney told the Council of Ministers and Chief Minister Allan Bell he would quit after it was revealed he leaked a document from the Council of Ministers to pre-school campaigners Amy Burns and Lisa Morris.

In giving their evidence to the Social Affairs Policy Review Committee looking into the new pre-school provisions a CoMin document marked "confidential" was handed to the committee, which it was claimed had been supplied to them by Mr Cretney.

Mr Cretney has apologised for his actions and says whilst it may have been the wrong thing to do it was done with the right intentions:
