ENGLAND has topped the medals table at this year's Commonwealth Youth Games.
It clocked up an impressive tally of 77 medals in total – 37 gold, 24 silver and 16 bronze.
Australia took second place winning 74 – 29 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze.
South Africa succeeded in taking third place with 30 medals – eight gold, seven silver and 15 bronze.
The Isle of Man, who was hosting the event, managed to clock up three medals thanks to swimmer Grant Halsall.
He obtained two silver medals – in the 50m backstoke and 200m backstroke events – and one bronze in the 100m event.
Grant's medals have put the Island on the medal map for the first time in the history of the Commonwealth Youth Games – in the last four events the Island went home empty handed.
