A team of four enthusiastic Barclays Wealth staff took part in the Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 21st March, raising an impressive £3,326 for the charity.
Andy Booth, Bernadette Foody, Adrian Marsh and Simon Scott took part in the event, running 18 miles between them along Douglas Promenade.
Simon donned a bright red 'afro' wig and vest for the run, which not only made him stand out from the crowd but earned the team an extra £30 sponsorship!
It was agreed that the team should run the first 100 metres together but Simon’s blistering pace just couldn’t be contained and he sprinted off to become one of the top five finishers in the six mile race.
Bernadette, Adrian and Andy stayed together for the first 1.5miles before Andy decided to set a new, slower pace which left him to finish the three miles alone.
Bernadette was the fastest female six mile runner on the day, which left Andy and Adrian to achieve personal pride only by completing their promised three miles!
Andy Booth, Head of Local Markets for Barclays Wealth, Isle of Man, said, "We all really enjoyed running the Sport Relief Mile at the weekend.
"After a whip-round in the office, we managed to reach our £1,500 target and eventually managed to raise £1,663, which Barclays Wealth has agreed to match 'pound for pound', bringing the final total to £3,326.
"The team now has a new found respect for anybody running the upcoming London marathon, judging by the aches and pains felt on Monday morning we can only image what the marathon runners must feel like!
"We would all like to thank everyone who has sponsored us and helped raise a fantastic sum on money for Sport Relief."
