On Sunday 10th November 2013 at 0923hrs the Emergency Services Joint Control Room received a call reporting a car fire on level one of the Multi storey car park Drumgold Street. Two pumps from Douglas station and the Duty Officer where dispatched to the incident. On arrival the crews were faced with one vehicle well alight, using a high pressure hose reel and 2 BA crews tackled the fire while staff from Marks and Spencer helped keep the public out of the area due to the large amount of smoke on level one and two of the car park.
Once the fire was out the area was vented using a positive pressure fan, and the area around the vehicle cordoned off. The public were then allowed back into the car park area, damage was confined to one car only. The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service would like to thank the staff of Marks and Spencer for their assistance and procedures in dealing with this incident.
