Andrew Nash will be the first athlete to compete for the Isle of Man in the Triathlon. He took part in an organised familiarisation yesterday on the course in Strathclyde Country Park. He also had to register his race equipment to ensure it conforms to race regulations.
The Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Gymnastics, Boxing, Lawn Bowls and Shooting squads all had training sessions on Monday and have sessions scheduled today.
All the facilities are now very busy with most of the teams now in the village and the preparations for the opening ceremony are well advanced with a dress rehearsal last night. The great thing is that Celtic Park is very close to the village so we will walk to the Opening Ceremony and be back in the village very soon after it finishes.
The Athletes visited Hampden Park yesterday which is the Athletics venue and will have the opportunity to train there over the next couple of days.
The weather was warm and sunny yesterday which was great.Today is set fair again but cloudy and a bit cooler.
A lot of the Triathon athletes were struggling to meet the strict criteria of the use of brand names on bikes, wetsuits etc and there was the sight of athletes making adjustments which involved lots of black tape and spray paint.
