Edgewater Associates Limited (Edgewater), the largest independent financial adviser on the Island, has announced the appointment of Dean Sowerby and Helen Hutchinson to its team.
Dean joins in the role of Financial Adviser and Helen as General Insurance Consultant.
Formerly Head of Banking at Duncan Lawrie Private Bank, Dean brings with him over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
A Chartered Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments and the London Institute of Banking & Finance, he also holds a Certificate in Financial Planning and a Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice.
Dean is looking forward to returning to a financial planning role after many years spent in business development and management in a banking environment.
“I’ve always enjoyed meeting and working with new people and helping clients make the most of their options,” he said. “Financial planning has been the backbone of my career and this is a great opportunity to grow and develop Edgewater’s Isle of Man client network.”
Helen is currently working towards her Certificate in Insurance and Financial Services and joins Edgewater after two years at another local insurance broker.
An honours graduate in Geology, she has worked previously in computer services as a computer programmer.
Helen will be involved in activating a wide range of insurance products including travel, personal, motor, home and commercial.
“I’m looking forward to expanding my insurance experience with the team of accomplished brokers at Edgewater,” she said.
Commenting on the new appointments, Managing Director Sandra Cardwell said: “Dean and Helen join us at an exciting time as Edgewater extends its position as the largest firm of independent financial advisers on the Isle of Man.
“Our recent acquisitions of business from MBL Financial, Lasenby Knox and Balla Brokers mean we have a growing and diverse customer base.
“Our mission is to extend the same excellent level of service that’s been enjoyed by our long-established clients to our newer ones. I am sure Dean and Helen will help us achieve that and I am pleased to welcome them to the team.”
