Chair sought for new research committee

The search is underway for a new chair of the Isle of Man Research Ethics Committee.

IOMREC will be tasked with reviewing ethical dimensions of all proposed health and social care research projects which involve human participants, tissue or data.

The aim is to protect the interests of patients and public by upholding research standards which respect the dignity, rights, safety and wellbeing of those taking part.

Dr Becky Rowley is the head of research and development at the Department of Health and Social Care: "Research is a fascinating and dynamic field and we are really excited to be forming a committee which will be at the forefront of this important work.

"We welcome applicants from all sections of society. You don’t need to have a medical or social care background, and previous formal research experience is beneficial but not essential.

"What’s most important is that you are forward thinking and have a passion for research in health and social care."

The deadline for the vacancy for the chair position is March 22nd – vacancies for committee members will be advertised in the near future.
