The Isle of Man benefits from a leading edge telecommunications system including sophisticated telephony services closely integrated with the UK telephone number range. This means that a business call from London to Scotland is the same as a call from London to the Isle of Man, both in terms of how it is dialled and the cost! Broadband (ADSL) connectivity and full coverage mobile phone services are among the many 'business as usual' facilities available on the Isle of Man. All of the key services expected are delivered via a fully digital backbone telecommunications infrastructure. This is provided by Manx Telecom Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of mmO2. SURE mobile, a subsidiary of Cable and Wireless Group, also now offers mobile telephone services on the Island. In addition, there are now a number of independent ISPs, web hosting services, business continuity and IT co-location providers, all of which combine to provide a vibrant, competitive and increasingly creative telecom and IT sector.
