Investment Business Introduction
A wide range of investment opportunities exist on the Isle of Man for both companies and individuals. Flexibility and diversification ensure that the sector continues to thrive and expand.
All investment business on the Island is licensed by the Financial Supervision Commission; all persons conducting investment business either on or from here must hold a Class 2 Licence (under the Financial Services Act 2008). Businesses that provide services to Collective Investment Schemes are required to hold a Class 3 licence.
The types of organisation licensed range from discretionary portfolio managers (including the managers of captive insurance funds) to brokers selling life and pension products.
Such investment businesses provide their services not only to residents of the Isle of Man but also to the expatriate community, therefore non-residents may enjoy the benefits of offshore investment vehicles.
All investment businesses are required to follow customer due diligence policies in order to minimise the possibility of being unwittingly used in laundering the proceeds of drug trafficking, terrorism or other criminal activities.
