Yacht Management Introduction
The Isle of Man Ship Registry (formerly the Isle of Man Marine Administration) is a modern flag registry with excellent standards and efficient service. It has been established as an independent, international register since 1984, when it replaced the Isle of Man Marine Administration, and encompasses all types of vessel from sailing yachts to oil tankers.
It is a component part of the British Register: ships and yachts can fly the Red Ensign and benefit from British Consular services and naval protection.
The Isle of Man is a financial ‘centre of excellence’ which has become the ‘flag of choice’ for many of the world’s most prestigious superyachts and megayachts, a position which was consolidated by the 2003 introduction of the Megayacht Code.
Manx taxation treatment is generous and legislation flexible to encourage growth in this sector. As a consequence, an increasing number of clients are recognising the economic benefits of Isle of Man registration for their vessels.
The Island has a strong, diverse infrastructure with many specialist professionals on hand to handle such issues as vessel insurance and the legal structures required for financing and ownership.
Wherever in the world a vessel is located, the Isle of Man will work quickly and efficiently on behalf of owners and operators to ensure the best possible service.
