Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam

Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam

Although billed as 'Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam', the line-up no longer features Ross Doyle (drums) and Adam Jones (bass), the band members having gone their separate ways in January 2009.

Throughout an extensive 2009 summer tour in the States, which has included opening shows for Joe Satriani's new band Chickenfoot, Davy has been performing with three Seattle musicians - PK on bass, Steven Barci on drums and Ty Bailie on keyboards.

In October 2009 The Isle of Man hosted the European album launch for the group's Peter Frampton-produced CD 'Coming Up For Air', which saw a limited US release in June 2009.

2009 was a momentous year for Davy, whose US shows, which have included support slots for Eric Burdon, REO Speedwagon and Lynyrd Skynyrd, have won him huge acclaim with Stateside audiences.

Chickenfoot's drummer, Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, surprised Davy onstage in North Carolina, strumming his new PRS guitar while it was still around his neck; and Pearl Jam's guitarist Mike McCready jammed with Davy at a Seattle show.

Satriani himself called Davy his "favourite modern day bluesman" in an interview with the Sunday Times.
