Richard Quayle
Richard Quayle nicknamed ‘Milky’ is one of only three Manx men to win the TT title.
In 1996 he won the 250cc Manx Championships, and in 1998 took 6th place in the Junior Manx Grand Prix and 2nd place in the Lightweight race.
In 1997 he finished 22nd in the Production TT, in 1999 finished 9th, and in 2000 finished 2nd.
TT 2000 was his first full TT and he entered the Duke Formula 1, Junior and Lightweight 250 Races on a Honda, and the Production Race on a Demon Vimto Honda.
2002 saw Quayle win the Lightweight 400cc on a 400CBR Honda RR at an average speed of 109.27mph. His time was 1 22 52.0
In 2003 Quayle crashed at 160mph in one of the most famous crashes in TT history. Quayle punctured both lungs and had to have his spleen removed. Sadly the TT career had to end.
