Kirk Arbory Ogams
These two Ogam stones were both built into a wall at the Bemaken
Friary in Arbory, and are some of the earliest monuments on the
Island. Similar stones have been found around burial sites across
the south, and they are probably Christian.
The stone on the left stands approximately four feet five inches high, one foot wide and six inches in thickness. The inscription runs up the right angle of the stone but some of the Ogams have worn away.
The right hand stone is a small granite boulder, approximately seventeen inches high, sixteen inches in width and eight inches in thickness. The inscription is cut around the edge and is again very worn.
