The National Sports Centre (NSC) is located on the outskirts of Douglas and is the Island's only purpose built sports and leisure complex that includes swimming, indoor fitness centre and track and field facilities.
The centre was built on the site of the former King George V Park with the first phase, the Athletics Stadium, opening to the public in 1991. This was followed by phase 2 in 1998 which saw the opening of the Swimming Pools, main Sports Hall and the Health and Fitness areas. The final phase, which was completed in 2000, saw the addition of a second Sports Hall, an Indoor Bowls Hall plus 6 Squash Courts.
The NSC provides the following facilities:
- Competition short course swimming pool
- Leisure pool
- Full size Sports Hall plus secondary Sports Hall
- Fitness Zone Gym and Spa
- Indoor Bowls
- Squash Courts
- 6 Lane Athletics Track with Field Sports provision
- All weather synthetic pitch
- 3,000 all seater stadium
The NSC has been awarded Quest accreditation attaining excellent status in 2010.
In addition to the excellent sporting facilities there is a bar and cafe serving a wide choice of meals and light refreshments.
For those arriving by car the NSC has ample on site parking available in its own car park situated to the side of the building in Groves Road.
