by isleofman.com 15th October 2010
Richard Fletcher has been appointed Head of Corporate and Public Sector Sales at Manx Telecom. He leads a team of 13 which includes dedicated sales and account management personnel as well as technical and sales support staff. Prior to taking up his new post Richard was Public Sector Sales Manager and he has retained direct responsibility for the supply of Manx Telecom’s services to the Isle of Man Government. This involves supplying a fully managed service to 7,500 voice call and data users and is a significant part of the work carried out by him and his team. Richard has worked at Manx Telecom for 27 years and originally joined the company as a student on a six-month contract in the Manx Telecom Phoneshop. That was in 1983 and he has worked his way up through the company in a variety of commercial roles ever since. He was Applications and Services Manager on the O2 3G Manx Project team which culminated in the launch of Europe’s first commercial trial of 3G in December 2001. In 2004 Richard moved to the UK to take up an 18-month secondment with O2 Airwave as Mobile Data Propositions Manager. He returned to the Isle of Man as Manx Telecom Business Development Manager in October 2005 and then became Public Sector Sales Manager in 2008. With the assistance and support of his employer, Richard successfully completed an MBA during 2001 which included a research project on the competitive threats facing incumbent telecommunication companies. He said: “I’m really excited to have been given this opportunity. Our Corporate Sales team has a wealth of experience which incorporates dedicated account management, pre-sales consultancy and after sales support. The current economic climate means that both the public and private sectors are facing great challenges and are looking to cut costs wherever possible. However, appropriate investment in technology can deliver the tools to help overcome these challenges and Manx Telecom is committed to working with its customers to find solutions that achieve this” ENDS
