Bus Timetable Changes

The Department of Community Culture and Leisure wishes to announce further amendments to the new bus timetable, introduced in September. These changes, which are the result of the Department’s commitment to review and amend the new services, will take effect on Monday 18th October 2010. The key changes are as follows: • There will be additional morning services between Onchan and Governor’s Hill and Douglas, increasing services to Port Jack and the Promenades; • Morning, evening and weekend services to Ballachrink, Onchan, will be improved; • Passengers wishing to leave the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre Complex can board a free service to Lord Street at 22:50 to allow them to transfer onto onward connections; • Early services to the Hospital from Anagh Coar will be provided at weekends, the first Saturday being 23rd October. The Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, the Hon DC Cretney MHK, commented: “I have made it clear that I will consider any comments made about our new bus timetable and do what I can to fix any problems. I am pleased to announce that the Road Traffic Licensing Committee has approved a second series of changes that I am sure will be appreciated by our passengers. We will continue to make adjustments like this where we can and will as promised review the entire network in December.” The changes in detail are as follows: Pages 10 and 11 of the September 2010 timetable- services between Port St Mary and Onchan Mondays to Fridays • Service 1, which departs Port St Mary Harbour at 07:00, is cancelled. A new service 12 will replace it, departing Port St Mary Harbour at 06:55. It will run 5 minutes earlier than the previous 0700 Service 1; to arrive at Douglas (Lord Street) at 07:59. From there the service will continue on to Birch Hill Crescent via St Ninian’s, Willaston and Hailwood Avenue. • Service 1, which departs Birch Hill Crescent at 08:18 will run as a service 12 instead and service Royal Avenue and Port Jack (not Manx Arms). • An additional Service 2 will depart Loch Promenade (Stand F) at 08:04, but will run via Promenades, Summer Hill, Manx Arms and Hillberry Road to serve Hailwood Avenue from Bemahague Road. • Service 1, which departs Birch Hill Crescent at 07:18, will extend its service from Port Erin on to Port St Mary. Pages 16, 17, 18 and 19 of the September 2010 timetable: Mondays to Fridays • Service 3, departing Banks Circus at 21:00 and Ramsey Bus station at 22:05, will run via Ballachrink Drive and School Road in Onchan. • Service 3, which departs from Ramsey at 22:05, will run from St Ninian’s via Broadway and service the seaside bus stops on Harris Promenade (opposite the Villa Marina and the Sefton Hotel) at 22:50, before continuing to Loch Promenade and Lord Street. This will offer a free service for those wishing to travel from the seaside stops to Lord Street for onward bus connections. Saturdays • Service 3A, departing Lord Street (Stand D) at 18:40 and Service 3, departing Banks Circus at 21:00, will both run via Ballachrink Drive and School Road in Onchan. • Service 3, which departs from Ramsey at 22:05, will run via Ballachrink Drive and School Road in Onchan. It will then continue from St Ninian’s via Broadway and service the seaside bus stops on Harris Promenade (opposite the Villa Marina and the Sefton Hotel) at 22:50, before continuing via Loch Promenade to Lord Street. This will also offer a free service for those wishing to travel from the seaside stops to Lord Street for onward bus connections. Sundays • All journeys will run via Ballachrink Drive and School Road in Onchan. Page 28 of the September 2010 timetable: Mondays to Fridays • Service 8 (School Days Only – SDO) will operate between Peel and Castletown with a connection to Port Erin from Castletown at 17:11. • Service 8 (Non-School Days – NSD) will operate as a through service to Port Erin. Page 32 of the September 2010 timetable: Mondays to Fridays • Service 30, shown in the timetable as departing Banks Circus at 17:28, will depart at 17:33 and will run 5 minutes later throughout to Manx Arms. This will give a departure time from Loch Promenade at 17:38. Page 36 of the September 2010 timetable: Saturdays • Service 21B, the 0610 Service 21A journey will terminate at Lord Street and therefore not extend to Banks Circus. • The current 0709 Service 21B will commence at Lord Street (Stand B) at 0700 and run via Pulrose, Anagh Coar (1st & 2nd bus stops), Farm Hill, Vicarage Road and Braddan School Road to the Hospital – departing the Hospital at 0725 via the timetabled route to Lord Street. Sundays • The current 0709 Service 21B will commence at Lord Street (Stand B) at 0700 and run via Pulrose, Anagh Coar (1st & 2nd bus stops), Farm Hill, Vicarage Road and Braddan School Road to the Hospital – departing the Hospital at 0725 via the timetabled route to Lord Street. Page 38 of the September 2010 timetable: Mondays to Fridays - (School Days Only – SDO) • Service 23A, shown in the timetable as departing Manx Arms at 0835, will commence at Ballachrink Drive at 0822. Mondays to Fridays • Service 29, shown in the timetable as departing Lord Street at 16:10, will depart at 16:30 and will run 20 minutes later throughout to the return time at the White Hoe (16:50). The service will then run direct to Banks Circus, arriving at 16:53. -Ends-
