Corporate Support for the Manx Wildlife Trust

by isleofman.com 12th July 2011
The Manx Wildlife Trust is very pleased to announce that PokerStars, the e-gaming company based in Onchan, has recently given its support to the nature conservation charity by becoming a Gold Corporate member. Through the activities of its Charity Committee, chaired by Joan Hadley, PokerStars is a keen supporter of a number of local charities. Commenting on the Company’s decision to assist the Manx Wildlife Trust, Joan said, “Our staff really appreciate the work that the Trust is doing to conserve and protect the Island’s wonderful array of wildlife and we are very happy to be able to assist the charity by joining their Corporate membership scheme.” A number of PokerStars’ staff and their families recently took the opportunity to find out first-hand about some of the conservation work being done by the charity by joining in a special Orchid Walk, led by Reserves Officer, Tricia Sayle, at the Manx Wildlife Trust’s Close Sartfield nature reserve in the Ballaugh Curragh. The group were impressed by the beautiful, species-rich wildflower meadows where they were able to see Common Spotted, Heath Spotted, Northern Marsh, Early Marsh and Twayblade orchids in significant numbers and were also able to gain an understanding of the considerable work carried out by the Trust and its volunteers to ensure such a good crop of wildflowers. Whilst the orchids are best seen in June and July, many other wildflowers proliferate on the site throughout the Summer. More information on Close Sartfield and the Manx Wildlife Trust’s popular Corporate membership scheme may be found on the charity’s website www.manxwt.org.uk. Ends
