Successful Trip for Isle of Man Combined Cadet Force

by isleofman.com 12th July 2011
Students from King William’s College Combined Cadet Force (CCF) enjoyed a resounding success during an action packed week of military and adventurous training at the CCF Annual Central Camp at the Ministry of Defense (MoD) Nescliff training camp in Shropshire. Joining with over 450 cadets from six other schools around the country they engaged in a series of challenging activities including, rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, orienteering, shooting and military skills culminating in a twenty four hour field exercise. These were all designed to develop individual leadership skills, build confidence and team spirit. Comprising of cadets from King William’s College and Castle Rushen High School, the Isle of Man students emerged as the overall winners of the military training competition and were awarded a silver shield on the final parade by the Commandant of Shropshire Army Cadet Force (ACF), Colonel Mike Watkins MBE. The accolade was especially meaningful and a fitting tribute to the sterling efforts of the Contingent Commander, Lt Cdr. Hilary Morton who is due to retire from King William’s College at the end of the academic year. - ends -
