Shocks in Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield

by isleofman.com 26th November 2011

There were two dramatic results in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield, with leaders Southern Nomads and nearest rivals Douglas B both losing.

At Mooragh Park, Ramsey B beat the leaders and holders 12-7 in a game dominated by the blustery conditions.

Nomads led 7-0 at half-time after Tom Davies’ try and Glen Buckley’s conversion.

Ramsey used the wind well in the second half.

Prop Orry Watterson got his first try for the club to put Ramsey back into the game and second row Max Singer crashed over for the winner which was converted by Dan Bonwick.

Bottom side Emerging Nomads secured their first win of the season, shocking Douglas B 17-14 at King Williams College.

The game was finely balanced 7-7 at half-time.

Dave Edge’s try and conversion had put Nomads ahead but Douglas cancelled it out with a try from James Stamp, converted by Adam Howarth.

In the second half though, Nomads sealed the win with a try from Dave Prince and a conversion and penalty from Edge.
