by isleofman.com 24th June 2011

SIXTH form students at Queen Elizabeth II High School in Peel have raised almost £800 for Save the Children.

The students were inspired to fundraise after a talk from Claire Bader who is a member of the Isle of Man Overseas Aid Committee.

She spoke about the difficulties faced by humanitarian workers who respond to foreign crises especially when there are constant threats to safety.

Student Callum Harper explained: "Hearing Claire talk about her work in these danger zones with such passion left us with the feeling that we can and should be doing more to help.

"While none of us could actually volunteer in a conflict zone we wanted to contribute by running a non-uniform day in aid of the Save the Children Fund."
