Lessons learned from Chernobyl

A Manx government scientist has been reflecting on the lessons learned from the Chernobyl disaster.

Twenty-five years ago one of four nuclear reactors at the Ukranian power station exploded, leaving a devastating legacy for thousands of people who were subsequently affected by radioactive contamination.

It took several days for the full details of the disaster to come out, and there was a great deal of criticism about the way communication was handled.

Dr Paul McKenna says that is one thing that would be handled very differently now:
