Hectic 24 hours for police

by isleofman.com 1st January 2011

Police were called to 117 incidents on New Year's Eve, many involving people who were the worse for drink.

As well as attending what's described as a ‘good smattering of noisy parties’, most call-outs involved public order offences and cases of people behaving in a drunk and disorderly manner.

Seventeen people were arrested between midday on New Year’s Eve and midday on New Year’s Day, although no one was arrested or charged with drink driving.

Police say it was a fairly hectic 24 hours, although they managed to get to all the incidents reported to them.
