A section of the A25 Old Castletown Road will close early in the New Year to allow the Department of Transport’s Drainage Division to undertake essential works to the Crogga Hill Break Pressure Tank.
The section of road to close will be between the Oatlands B24 junction and Crogga Bridge. The dates of the closure are dependent on the weather, but the road closure order runs from Monday, January 4th to Friday, January 8th, with the road closed to traffic between 9.30am and 4.00pm each day.
Director of Drainage Peter Winstanley explains, "The works are weather dependent and require low flows in the drainage system. Subject to favourable weather, it is hoped that the road closure will not need to be for the whole week.
"Signs advertising the actual dates of the closure will be erected at Ellenbrook and at the Oatlands B24 road junction on Monday, January 4th once the weather forecast has been consulted."
Emergency access will be maintained at all times when the road is closed and access to local residents will be maintained at all times. An alternative route, via the A5 Castletown Road, will be signposted.
The Department apologises for any inconvenience caused by these essential works.
