Friends of the Barrovian Foundation were thanked for their support recently with festive drinks at the Barrovian Hall.
Amongst those in attendance were the Lieutenant Governor, Sir Paul Haddacks, Lady Haddacks and Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK, who have backed the Foundation throughout all its endeavours.
Everyone who has generously contributed their time, effort and funds to the cause during the year were warmly thanked at the event.
The Barrovian Foundation was launched in October 2007 to bring alumni, parents and friends closer to the life of King William’s College and The Buchan School. Since then, it has attracted a huge amount of support in its efforts to provide the schools with first-class facilities for the future.
The Foundation’s energies are currently focused on raising funds for a new Performing Arts Centre, which will consist of art, drama, music and photography facilities in a purpose-built complex.
In September, the Foundation organised a concert, aptly titled ‘KWC Has Talent’, which showcased the extraordinary level of talent fostered by the school.
The new Performing Arts Centre is intended to nurture this talent and provide pupils with the means for their creativity to flourish. Foundation Manager, Margaret Mansfield commented, "The evening also gave us an opportunity to thank the KWC staff and Common Room as well as parents who took part. We are truly grateful to all of these people!
"The Barrovian Foundation is also keen to get involved with the local community, and we would like to thank the Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band for their wonderful carol playing which really contributed to the festive atmosphere as guests arrived.
"Furthermore, we wish to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who has purchased a brick this year as part of our ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ campaign to raise funds for the Performing Arts Centre project."
