'Vern's Vacation' up for top film prize

A Crosby movie-maker is gearing up for her big night as part of the Children's BAFTA Awards.

Fourteen-year-old Lauren Blaney, a pupil at QEII High School in Peel, is one of the four finalists nominated for this year's Me and My Movies award.

The initiative aims to inspire and enable children to make their own films and tell their own stories.

It's organised by the British Academy of Film and Television Art and the awards ceremony takes place at the London Hilton on Park Lane this coming Sunday.

Lauren's movie, 'Vern's Vacation', was whittled down to the final four from nearly 800 entries, much to her delight (play audio file):
