Health care 'apron strings' about to be cut!

The minister for health and social security says he can understand the Manx public's general dismay at the ending of the Reciprocal Health Agreement with the United Kingdom.

But he is urging everybody to make sure they are prepared for what is an unavoidable change.

On Talking Heads today, Eddie Teare answered questions about the termination of the agreement, in April next year.

It means Isle of Man residents will have to pay their own medical costs, if they are admitted to a hospital in the United Kingdom.

Mr Teare said the 'apron strings' were about to be cut and the Isle of Man had to deal with it:
