by isleofman.com 19th August 2009

The new director of Manx National Heritage says meeting public expectations will be one of the organisation's biggest challenges ahead.

Edmund Southworth has just taken up the posititon after nine years as head of the museum service in Lancashire.

He'll be responsible for Manx National Heritage sites as well as the library and national archive and the Manx National Trust.

Mr Southworth takes over during the final stages of the Manx Ancestry Centre project - due to open next year.

He says ensuring the nation's heritage is portrayed in an appealing way is a unique challenge.

And he's keen to find out what the public wants from the organisation.
