Final service on Sunday

Sunday will see the end of an era for a building which has served its local community for more than 100 years.

In the face of dwindling congregations, a final service will be held at Salisbury Street Methodist Church in Douglas.

From next week, worshippers there will instead attend services at the nearby Trinity Methodist Church.

Steward and administrator Joe Marshall says times are changing and it's no longer practical to keep Salisbury Street going:
