Jobcentre vacancies aren't being filled

Treasury Minister Allan Bell says the government hopes to find out why so many people are still unemployed in the Isle of Man, after the latest jobless statistics showed yet another fall in numbers claiming benefits.

June's figures show seven more people signed on over the month, but they were all students, and Mr Bell says the underlying trend is downwards.

However, there are still hundreds of positions available at the Jobcentre and Mr Bell says it's important to find out why those claiming benefits aren't filling them.

He says the government will be investigating the issue in the near future:
