Fastcraft to be named after sea god

by isleofman.com 5th November 2008
The Steam Packet's new 96 metre catamaran will be called Manannan.

The name has been chosen through a competition run on the blogsite of the company's chief executive, Mark Woodward.

He says the name reflects the Steam Packet's desire to share in the mystique of Manannan, Celtic God of the Sea and protector of the Isle of Man.

The vessel, currently called Incat 050, is undergoing a full refit prior to entering service next year.

Manannan will be the largest vessel of its type operating in the Irish Sea.
