Minister welcomes approval of plan

A milestone for the Isle of Man.

That’s how Speaker of the House of Keys, Steve Rodan, described Tynwald’s decision to back the All Island Strategic Plan earlier this week.

It will now become the blueprint for future housing and property development in the Isle of Man.

Local Government Minister John Shimmin (pictured) is pleased the plan was approved, by 30 votes to two, despite the possibility of a legal challenge by a local developer.

However, he admits the plan in itself won’t prevent house prices escalating:
