Emergency services exercise

The Isle of Man's ability to deal with serious incidents at sea has been put to the test.

A two day table-top event, called Mannmarex, took place this week, designed to see how well the emergency services here, and in the United Kingdom, work together.

The scenario was a fire or hazardous chemical incident at sea and it was dealt with in 'real time' by the Island's fire service and coastguard, along with a new maritime response team based in north Wales.

It proved a success, with some important lessons learned for the future.
