Ombudsman on the way

by isleofman.com 12th July 2007
Chief Minister Tony Brown has confirmed legislation to create an independent ombudsman scheme for the Isle of Man is already being drafted.

The news comes in the wake of comments from the Positive Action Group's Roger Tomlinson, who recently said the Island's petition for redress of grievance process needed updating.

In order to do this, Mr Tomlinson had suggested an ombudsman should be brought in.

Mr Brown (pictured) says the bill to introduce the scheme, which will run in conjunction with the ancient Tynwald Day right, is already at the drafting stage and is in the government's legislative programme for introduction in 2007/08.
