Complaints procedure rejected

A revised police complaints procedure for the Isle of Man has been rejected by Tynwald.

Members of the Keys voted 14-10 in favour, but the vote in Legislative Council was 7-2 against.

Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle may bring the issue back for a combined vote in October.

Most members indicated that the revised system was not sufficiently independent.

Mr Quayle (pictured) called the rejection 'disappointing'.

He said all members of Tynwald had plenty of time to consider the report, but he received no response from any of them:
