The Hospice’s family fun day was held on Sunday at Ballafletcher Sports Ground. It was a terrific day of fun – there was an under 7 and under 9 football competition which was eagerly contested. There was bouncy castles, hot dogs and burgers supplied by the 2 football clubs based at the grounds. There was lots of stalls including the yummy Hospice cake stall manned by staff including Cheryl Young, Helen Mylchreest, Caroline Cresswell and Alison Christian. A new entertainment company called PSS supplied children’s entertainment equipment along with funfair stalls and an inflated obstacle course – thanks to Chris and Stuart. Catch them on Facebook!
The event raised just under ?1,000 for the local charity. Mary Doyle, PR and Marketing Manager thanked everyone involved in making the event such a success in particular all staff that worked all day setting up and packing away. She also thanked Tony Mepham, chairman of Corinthians and Rob Cowin, chairman of Douglas Royals, Brian Callow from Cu Plas Callow for all their support of the football competition. Wendy Cowin, Roberta Cannell and the other ladies who busily made tea etc in the clubs’ kitchen. Mark Adams for all his hard work with the football and all the football teams who took part. Corinthians won the under 7’s competition with Onchan A winning the under 9’s.
There were also craft stalls which Hospice would like to thank the Crafters Guild for organising. The sun eventually shone and a lovely afternoon was had by all that attended.
