Heroes in Community Award for Cal Cooper

by isleofman.com 4th November 2013

Cal Cooper, third in this year’s British Superbikes 600 Superstock championship, has won the Dream Catcher Appeal’s dedication to sport award for under 18s sponsored by Creechurch Capital.

The 17 year old from Ramsey, Isle of Man, dominated the second half of the 12-race series, scoring three wins, two seconds and a third on his CF Motorsport Yamaha R6. He also set two lap records and claimed six pole positions.

Off the Island testing ahead of the 2014 season, Cal was unable to be present at glittering Dream Catchers fund-raising evening and the award was accepted on his behalf by his sister Isalen.

The object of the appeal is to provide ‘gifts’ to deserving causes across the Isle of Man. The wooden trophies for the 10 Heroes in the Community categories were made by the Manx Workshop for the Disabled.

Dream Catchers chairman Michael Lees said the awards recognised people within the local community for their fantastic achievements.

Cal said: ‘As my racing is all off the island, it’s nice to know that people back home support me and I would like to thank Creechurch Capital for its involvement.’
