Four-midable Blaker downs Michael

by isleofman.com 7th December 2013

Oliver Blaker was the star of the show as Ramsey Youth Centre gave their relegation survival hopes a boost on Saturday.

He scored four times as the northerners won the battle of the newly promoted clubs.

Rory Poole netted the other as they thrashed Michael 5-1 to end their winning run.

Castletown, meanwhile, seem doomed to the drop after an 8-2 thrashing at Union Mills sent them to the foot of the table.

A Matty Cain hat-trick, Joey Morling double and goals from Chris Kelly, Ian Drake and James Lace consigned the southerners to a miserable day at Garey Mooar.

A blistering start from Laxey ensured they gained a modicum of revenge for last weekend’s Railway Cup semi-final defeat.

The Miners scored four goals inside the opening 15 minutes on their way to a 5-3 success at home to Rushen.

Aaron Hawley, Josh Kelly and Alex Maitland replied for the Railway Cup finalists but the gap was too wide to bridge.

A first half Nick Hurt goal was enough to secure St John’s a 1-0 victory at Old Boys.
