It’s now even easier to lend your support to an Isle of Man charity thanks to Manx Blind Welfare Society’s latest innovation.
The Society, which provides free services and support to blind and visually impaired people across the Isle of Man, has produced special ‘donation stations’ to make giving your unwanted clothes, shoes, books, DVDs and other items to its Douglas shop more convenient.
The 85 centimetre-tall freestanding cardboard collection points are available free to any business which would like to make it easier for staff to donate to charity. The Society will deliver the donation station and can pick up donations whenever required.
Manx Blind Welfare Society Volunteers Coordinator & Events Organiser Debbie Thomson said: ‘Since opening in 2015 our Douglas shop, The VIP Store in Strand Street, has been generously supported by people donating excellent quality items for us to sell to raise money to fund our essential work with visually impaired people across the Island.
‘Many of us have clothes, shoes, jewellery and other bits and pieces we’d like to donate to charity but, with such busy lives, find it hard to have the time to visit the shop in person. We decided it would be much more convenient if you could donate without even leaving your office!’
She added: ‘We’re inviting any business which would like to make it easier for staff to support our work to get in touch and we can deliver a donation station to them. As soon as its full they just need to give us a call and we’ll arrange collection of the donations.
‘We rely on donations and fundraising to continue our important work providing free support and services to the blind and visually impaired in the Isle of Man, and The VIP Store makes an important contribution. We’re hugely grateful for all the support we have received and hope the introduction of dedicated donation stations will help even more people get involved.’
