Sports coaches urged to kick start 2019 with breakfast meet

Local sports coaches are being invited to attend a Coaches Breakfast Club to kick start 2019.

The event, which is being held at Colby Football Club on Saturday, January 19th from 8am to 9:30am, offers coaches the opportunity to join in sports psychology discussions and share insights from their own coaching perspectives over breakfast.

This year’s event will be facilitated by local fell runner and sport psychology consultant Rich Sille.

Having graduated with a Masters from Liverpool John Moores University Rich is continuing his academic research whilst also providing psychological support to sports organisations, athletes, coaches and parents.

His applied work has a dual focus on performance and well-being.

Rich says: "The discussion will be very fluid and tailored to the experiences and needs of the coaches present.

"Sport psychology covers a broad range of topics and can assist in areas that may not be immediately obvious such as coach-athlete relationships, organisational culture, career decision making, coping with injury or deselection, as well as more recognised issues like dealing with nerves, mental rehearsal and motivation."

The breakfast club has become a regular feature in the coaching calendar, having previously been hosted at Ramsey Rugby Club, Peel Golf Club and the National Sports Centre.

Trevor Christian, Sports Coaching Coordinator for Isle of Man Sport, adds: "The event is a very relaxed, inclusive and informal gathering, and welcomes all coaches from any sport to come along and enjoy some food and share ideas, challenges and success stories around coaching.

"We have lots of very experienced and talented coaches here on the Island, so it is great to be able to share the wealth of knowledge they all possess for the benefit of everyone on our sports mad Island."

Booking is essential and interested coaches are asked to get involved by phoning 688590
