They were guests of the locally based Manx Folk Dance Society (with whom they have been friends for more than thirty years), who travelled to Ljungby in southern Sweden in 2015, when they took the opportunity of visiting the Europeade Folk Dance Festival in the town of Helsingborg, on the Baltic coast.
Sunnerbogillet is an active dance group established in 1959, with a priority of studying and implementing Swedish folklore in the form of dance, music, costume, handicrafts and tradition. Their repertoire includes a selection of early, international folk dancers, with exchange visits to other countries a popular feature.
Easily distinguished by colourful costumes, representing dancers homesteads and copied from those worn in the nineteenth century, members of Sunnerbogillet are known for organising children's dance groups and a series of public entertainment and dance programmes during the summer. They also practice both Swedish and European folk dances weekly and are also available for performances, public engagements and workshops.
Whilst on the Island the dancers visited Snaefell, took a trip on the steam railway and enjoyed some free time at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show; with dance displays at the Quarter Deck in Port Erin and Laxey Square.
