To celebrate International Bat night (Sat 27th Aug) the Manx Bat Group are having a FREE guided walk around upper Laxey.
Meeting at 8pm at Dumbell’s (Ham & Egg) Terrace car park, the walk will set off after a brief talk on bats, and their habits, on the Isle of Man, explaining the need for and use of bat detectors. Bat detectors will be loaned out for the evening by the Bat Group before setting off to visit some key locations for bats in the village, finishing with a watch for Daubenton’s bats skimming the water surface.
All are welcome to this free event although children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Sensible outdoor clothing should be worn, with good walking shoes. The walk will be brought forward to Friday night in the event of adverse weather.
