Hospice Isle of Man will
be asking local people and companies to "Be a Hero" during the week
13th to 21st June 2014.
This annual week of activity encourages people to think about the
work children's hospice do and generate income to support them.
Currently Rebecca House looks after 29 children and their families
and costs just over half a million pounds each year. This week will
highlight the care given to children with life-limiting or
life-threatening conditions. They will often have complex needs
requiring round-the-clock care - 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
The week of events will start off with 'Be a Hero Day' on Friday
13th June. Rebecca House invites nurseries, schools and workplaces
to dress as a super hero for the day, hold a minion cake bake day
and donate £1. The team will visit to take photographs if you ring
647434 to register your involvement.
Saturday will see a fun filled day with the Rebecca House team at
Strand Shopping Centre. Why not come and see what we are about and
meet our surprise super hero's. There will be colouring
competitions, face painting and lots more, £1 minimum donation per
person.
As Father's Day is during this week - the
children at Rebecca House have designed a Super Hero Dad limited
edition card. These are available from Rebecca House or any Hospice
shop. Priced at just £2 each they will make a lovely Father's Day
present.
During this Sunday there will lots of activities with a Midday walk
along Douglas Promenade, entry is just £5 per family. In addition
there will be two films showing at the Broadway Cinema starting at
1pm finishing at 5pm. Both movies involve super heros - The
Incredibles and Despicable Me with a complimentary Davisons Ice
Cream served in the interval, tickets priced at £10 for both
movies, or £6 to watch either single film. To book contact the
Villa Marina on 600555.
Monday 16th June will see the
Avengers quiz night being held at the Outback. Entry is £10 for a
team of six with the event starting at 7.30pm. Ring 647434 to
register your team.
The week of profile and fundraising will wrap up with the Parish
Walk on Saturday 21st June. It is hoped that a 100 superhero's will
'walk the walk' for Hospice and Rebecca House! If you want to walk
for us we would like to hear from you.
