If you were looking for some family friendly entertainment this August bank holiday, then the Deep South Music Festival at Stone Field, Port St Mary was just the ticket.

Adults enjoyed music from international and local stars, and the youngsters (and young at heart) joined the Vikings, rode the segways and zorbs and enjoyed fairground rides and storytelling. Local food producers kept everyone well nourished - and there was the beer tent courtesy of Bushy's.

The organisers had promised a weekend of 'peace, love and music' where visitors were able to enjoy music from three stages, 'culture' in the alternative tent and a Viking village.

Headliners included Simon Townshend (above, currently touring with The Who but also a well respected, talented solo artist), RTE Radio's Jacqui Carroll presented her DJ set 'Ready Steady Go' (below), and the Island's own Chris Gray and Mae Challis amongst others.

This full weekend's entertainment included Manx and Pilipino dancers, insights from archaeological digs around the Island, presentations from the Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch team, workshops from the Guild of Crofters and Weavers, saxophonists and twirlers, and local artist Gavin Carter carved - with help from festival goers - a Viking sculpture from an old railway sleeper.

All profits from the Deep South Music Festival 2014 will go to two local charities, the Multiple Sclerosis Society IOM and Port St Mary school's shelter box appeal.
