Still Time To Join The Big Tidy Up All-Island Challenge October 8 and 9

by isleofman.com 1st October 2010
Douglas Borough Council is leading the all-Island environmental awareness campaign taking place on Friday October 8 and Saturday October 9 in support of the UK-wide Big Tidy Up litter pick, organised by anti-litter campaigning body Keep Britain Tidy. ‘Response from local authorities, businesses, schools, charities and volunteer groups across the Island has been very positive,’ said Council Leader David Christian JP, adding: ‘However, there is still time for other organisations and private individuals to get involved, identify litter “hotspots” and make a stand against litter by partnering with the Council Members, officers and staff to create a cleaner, greener Isle of Man.’ Protective tabards, litter picks, gloves, brushes and bags will be provided by Douglas Borough Council. A typical Big Tidy Up session is expected to be of two hours’ duration. Litter gathered and bagged within the Borough of Douglas will be collected by Douglas Borough Council. To participate contact Peter Macken, pmacken@douglas.gov.im. Ends
